I was born in 1982 the 4th and last kid in my family. My dad was an excellent amateur photographer, as was my grandpa, so you’d think we’d have more family photos, right?
Wrong.
Photographs from my entire childhood, from 2 days old (earliest photos of me) to 21 literally fills just one measly photo album. Would I love to have more photographs of me as a child? Sure, who wouldn’t? I’d love to see photos of my mom pregnant with me, or more of my sisters and I, and especially more of our entire family of 6. I honestly have just a FEW photos of my entire family together throughout my life. It just never happened. My parents, as any parent would agree, just didn’t have time or just didn’t think about it as time flew right past everyone. Especially in those pre-cell phone, pre-selfie, pre-everything days where film ruled and if you didn’t write the date on the canister pre-developing then who the heck knows when those photos were taken, it was anyone’s guess.
My point is, as much as I would love to have more photos, because I have less I treasure what I do have more. Those few photos of my family together, they are more precious than gold. Because I know that time stopped for a moment and we were all together long enough to capture it.
When time is everything and money is tight, most families can’t afford to drop a significant investment into family portraits, be it an investment of time or an investment of money. To have both seems a luxury these days. Do you want a lot of professional portraits of your family? Of course, who wouldn’t? But again, when time and money are the deciding factor, what do you need? In 20-30 years, when you and your family look back on the past, what will THEY want versus need? If all you can give them is a few, it’s still enough, because a few is better than none.
Life is busy, days are so full, kids are hit or miss on good days vs bad days. Is this BUSY-ness worth the loss of looking back to remember when?
If you’ve got 5 minutes, you’ve got time to invest. If you’ve got $60, you’ve got money to invest.
Show your kids, your grandkids, how ridiculously happy life is now. Show them their milestones. Show them their parents together in a photo (because we all know this doesn’t happen often as one parent is usually the one taking photos) and show them a beautiful family photo without breaking the bank.
If these words just resonate in you, because you’re nodding your head in agreement that time and money are two deciding factors on whether professional photographs are for you, then you NEED my 5 minute mini-mini session. It’s the perfect fit for you, and though you won’t have a lot of photos from our session, you will have some amazing photos that you will treasure even more because you have less.
